Aaliyah Kashyap and Ida Ali, daughters of renowned filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Imtiaz Ali respectively, recently opened up about a harrowing experience from their childhood. Speaking on Aaliyah's podcast, Young, Dumb & Anxious, the two best friends recounted being held hostage by their house help while she robbed their home. Aaliyah narrated, "Her parents and my parents were going out together somewhere and she (Ida) was staying at my house and my nani was there. My nani was watching us and so was our didi, who was working in our house at the time."
The incident took a frightening turn when the house help locked Aaliyah's grandmother in a room and bound the girls. "She locked my nani in the room in the evening after my parents left. She taped Ida and my mouth and tied our hands to a chair. We were crying and freaking out because we thought we were going to die. So basically, she was stealing stuff from the house. She was stealing jewellery and money or whatever was in the house," Aaliyah recalled. Fortunately, Aaliyah's mother returned home unexpectedly and discovered the scene, prompting her to alert the parents and end the ordeal.
Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Ida noted that it had brought them closer. They discussed trauma bonding on the podcast, with Ida mentioning that, in hindsight, "it’s a fun story that we share." Aaliyah added that they now "laugh about" the incident, although it was undoubtedly a terrifying experience at the time.
Aaliyah Kashyap, who is engaged to Shane Gregoire and planning a wedding for next year, continues to make headlines with her personal and professional life. A social media influencer and content creator, she often shares insights into her life and relationship on her YouTube channel. In another episode of her podcast, she humorously addressed her father's comments about the wedding budget, joking, "My dad should be grateful he doesn’t have more children to finance weddings for."
